Back in July, I had the chance to shoot a piece on 16mm in Venice for Scalpers, thanks to Martín Salvador. Didn’t think twice. The reference? 70s detective films—plenty of zooms, that gritty aesthetic, and a whole lot of mood.
One of the biggest challenges? Trying to capture an empty Venice—pretty much an impossible mission in peak tourist season. But somehow, we pulled it off.
The heat was brutal, but the result? A piece that really feels like it came straight out of the 70s. Couldn't have done it without an amazing camera team.
16mm, zooms, and a touch of nostalgia.
