Back in NYC two years ago, nearly 20 years after my last visit—this time with my 16mm Aaton camera in hand. I finally shot the city the way I had always imagined: raw, fast, and exactly as I feel it.
This was a pure run and gun shoot—just me, my camera, and the rhythm of New York dictating every frame. Over two relentless days, I roamed the streets, letting instinct take the lead, chasing fleeting moments of light, movement, and chaos. No tripods, no permits, no second takes. Just the energy of the city, the sound of the film running through the camera, and the urgency to capture something real.
New York has a pulse of its own. It doesn’t wait, it doesn’t care, it just moves. I didn’t want to frame it perfectly—I wanted to feel it, translate it onto film the way it exists in my mind: imperfect, unpredictable, alive.
This is simply my portrait of New York—nothing more, nothing less. A glimpse of how I saw it in those brief, intense days.
Huge thanks to the incredible people who were part of this. This film wouldn’t be the same without you!
